"Let us Pray" Series - Week 6

Speaker: Pastor Lee Towns Date: Sunday, November 1, 2026

When we pray "forgive us our sins or debts as we have forgiven those who sin against us," Jesus is teaching us to make some shifts in how we live and experience the world. He is reminding us that we have a broken nature and this has placed us in captivity to broken behavior, but seeking forgiveness leads to freedom.

He is also helping us understand that the economy of God is an economy of grace, not capitalism. God does not give us what we deserve but instead meets us with a grace so remarkable that it could be called scandalous.

A third shift this prayer leads us to experience is from being a reservoir collecting all the goodness and blessing from God to being a river giving to others what God has given to us. As we ask God to truly forgive us and we experience His forgiveness, we will become forgiving ourselves and give forgiveness to those around us.
